A survival kit is a package of basic tools and supplies prepared in advance as an aid to survival in an emergency. Military aircraft, lifeboats, and spacecraft are equipped with survival kits.

Survival kits varies from different ranges. It is comprised of goods and equipments to support an individual, common protection from risks, prevent them from cold weather, provide aid of medical and emergency treatments, supplies water and food, communication to searchers, and helps in locating the route back.

Supplies in a survival kit normally contain a knife (often a Swiss army knife or a multi-tool), matches, tinder, bandana, fish hooks, sewing kit, and a LED flashlight with batteries.

Civilians such as forestry workers, surveyors, or bush pilots, who work in remote locations or in regions with extreme climate conditions may also be equipped with survival kits.

Emergency kits must also be available by people who resides in earthquake inhabited places or environmental adversities. For the regular resident to be prepared from any calamities, few areas must have emergency shops to maintain emergency resources and equipments.

“Altoids tin” or “Small emergency kits” are mini kits that has some common emergency equipments. Its has a mini compass, match that is waterproof, fishing line and hook, a big disposable cellophane, small bleach container, tiny taper, jigsaw blade, a safety pin and a knife blade.

These pre-set emergency tools also have survival strategy. It comprises some plans for making fire and emergency medication procedures.

In addition, parachute cord can be wrapped around the tin. The parachute cord can be used for setting up an emergency shelter or snaring small animals.
