Are you getting tired of hearing oil price increases? It has always been in the frontpage but did you hear any new solution to the high cost of petroleum fuel? Well, everyone seems to be looking for an alternative cheap renewable energy resources. There is one that caught my attention, it is the biodiesel fuel. Can It be the substitute green fuel of the millenium? Please join me discuss its pros and cons and let us find out how it can help our habitat .
First, let us define what is biodiesel fuel all about and why it became so popular among the motorists in almost all parts of the World. Biodiesel fuel is a substitute fuel for diesel engine automobiles that uses petroleum diesel fuel to run their autos.
It is made from 87% vegetable oil or animal fats, which are replaceable energy products. This is accepted worldwide because it has passed all the testing requirements for health bad side effects of the 1990 clean Air Act amendments. Let us now discuss its pros and disadvantages .
The benefits are:
• It is less expensive
• It is not hard to use with.
• It has no bad odor .
The downsides are:
• It is not difficult to locate.
• There are insufficient agricultural lands to reach the current market requirement .
• The manufacturing process turns out to use more energy than it can generate.
• It can cause for denuding of forests and mountain.
• It inflicts global warming effect.
The greatest challenges are the following:
• How can we trim down the price?
• To increase the energy generation ratio.
• How to proportionate the boosting of farm lands versus the denuding of our mountains.
The nice thing about it is that more and more nations are taking biodiesel development seriously. As a matter of fact there are many Biofuel World Events that are linedup for this year. Actually there are two big events scheduled early this year. The two countries hosting these events are Netherlands and Abu Dhabi.
As a conclusion, I believe that biodiesel fuel is still not ready to substitute gasoline oil in fueling our cars and vehicles. However, it could still contribute in the preservation of our non-renewable fossil fuels. With the support and joint effort from our international scientific community, I am still hoping they can find new remedies to these challenges. I am looking forward there is still a bright future for the better production of biodiesel fuel so it can become an alternative green fuel that everyone can safely use and buy.
