Epson sx415 put through its paces

Epson printers have   are renown  for getting the job done at a reasonable price. While the  oem  Epson ink cartridges are  extortionate  , the compatible epson cartridges for the sx415 are very reasonably priced.

Enough of that, on to the printer itself. Epson’s Stylus SX415 is a multifunction machine, hence it can print scan & copy. It has a color screen, PictBridge usb port which allows you to print directly from your digital camera, and also has slots for CompactFlash, SDHC, MMC memory cards. Thus you do not need to switch the pc on (if you ever switch it off) .

The Epson sx415 offers  impressive   photograph quality. Colours were bright & intense, skin tones were  nicely displayed  and smooth with very little bleeding. Photo printing is quite slow, but I would rather wait for a great photo then have a poor one instantly!

On  normal print mode text was dark and easy to read, close scrutiny would expose a few minor flaws but I am being finicky especially at the price these printers are available for now. Its not the fastest machine on the market by any means and some  Hewlett Packard’s  and Canon’s are quicker. Draft mode is lightening quick, but wish-wash. Documents with graphs and illustrations were vivid and accurate, very  nice  on the eye.

The 1,200×2,400dpi scanner is very good and produced quality scans on both documents and photographs with excellent fine detail on our scanned photos.

Photo printing and  scanning  are both very good makes the sx415 excellent value for money, considering you can  snap  one up for under £65 if you shop around .

Therefore avoid the Lexmark’s of this world  , spend a little more and  grab  yourself a nice little Epson multifunction machine.

Epson Ink Cartridges – The Journey of Print

Epson Ink Cartridges – The Journey of Print

Japan is home of innovative technology, but a story investigating the use of print cartridges in the country highlights the importance of opting for ink cartridges such as Epson that are easy to recycle.

The success of recycling is down in many ways to how easy it is  to fit in to everyday life  . If it costs time, money or too much effort to do,  people will not do it. And one area where printing companies like Epson are making leaps and bounds is in the area of recycling ink cartridges. A report from Japan reveals however that there is still a long way to go in changing the habits of some offices across the world .

Stephan Schmidt reported on the ‘journey of an ink cartridge’ after discovering that the Japanese alone consume 200 million ink cartridges – in 2008, just 10% of those ink cartridges were recycled.  The sad fact is  , that despite the prospect of a paper-less office, many businesses rely on printed out letters, labels and reports in instances where an email just won’t suffice. Epson ink cartridges that aren’t recycled will be dumped or incinerated . And Schmidt reports that the UK are not beyond reproach with around 65 million ink cartridges sold every year, with just 15% of those being recycled.

Epson Leads the Recycling Revolution

But big ink manufacturers including Epson are making positive steps to try and promote consumers to opt for recycling. In Japan, Epson ink cartridges are a leading brand with the Seiko Epson Corporation employing around 10,000 people in the city of Suwa. Epson teamed up with five other printing businesses in Japan to create the Ink Cartridge Homecoming Project. The project’s aim was to make recycling Epson ink cartridges accessible and  straightforward  by dropping off white recycling boxes in almost 4,000 branches of post offices across Japan.

Think About Your Ink

As well as Epson ink cartridges, the  innovative scheme  incorporated HP ink cartridges along with cartridges from, Dell, Brother, Lexmark and Canon. The used ink cartridges are then  transferred  to a specialist Epson plant where they are sorted and recycled – the cost of which is shared by the print manufacturers involved in the recycling partnership.

Not only is Epson helping to make a greener planet, the recycling project has generated over a hundred jobs and the company’s employment policy encourages the disabled to work at the facility as part of the organisation’s dedication to social responsibility in the community. The Epson ink cartridges are sorted and prepared for recycling and the company clearly takes pride in thinking through a detailed approach to its environmental and social responsibility. It’s a scheme that Epson and its partners hope to roll out to other countries – and one of the reasons why, aside from high quality print – it’s worthwhile in making Epson ink cartridges the cartridge of choice for your business .

Tips about ink cartridges

Computers  are   an significant tool for an individual and likewise, printers  are these days equally important  . So, buying ink cartridges for your printer  is an important neccessity  . In order to get the very best quality of print output and for clear visibility ,  it is important to find the best ink cartridges to fit your needs  .

Every time your printer  runs out of ink, it will  send a signal of less ink via your pc. So, you may wonder which ink cartridges are best for your printer. The first thing to do is to establish which cartridge or cartridges require replacement. check out what type of cartridges your printer requires, ie. brand and printer model (eg.  Epson s21  ). You may have a choice of original (OEM), compatible or recycled/re-manufactured ink cartridges, depending on your printer. compatible cartridges are brand new cartridges, made by a third party, such as epson ink cartridges. Remanufactured ink cartridges are original cartridges which have been refilled by another third party, such as HP ink cartridges or Lexmark ink cartridges.

So, before making any purchase, it may be worth considering the following points:

You should figure out the printing quality you need . Do you use your printer for professional use, business or home. Is the very best print output required and do you need print longevity? If you are using the ink cartridges that are manufactured by the same company as your printer, you will always get the best results. You should also look at your printer warranty. There are some manufacturers that make it difficult to obtain warranty repair if any ink cartridges are being used that were made by different manufacturer.

To maximise your printer’s life and that of the ink cartridges you use, it is advisable to print something at least once per week. This is particularly the case when using cheaper compatible inks. It is also best practice to replace an empty cartridge as soon as conceivable.

Occasionally print quality may deteriorate . This could be due to several factors including low ink levels, blockages in the print head or even microscopic air bubbles within the ink itself. In the vast majority of cases this can be resolved by performing a print head clean. This can commonly be done via the printer’s software on your PC.

Most printers will not work when one of the ink cartridges has ran out  , so when your ink cartridges are running low, be sure to order a replacement as soon as possible. We recommend having a complete spare set of ink cartridges in hand to avoid unnecessary downtime.
