3. Installing a programmable thermostat at home is highly recommended. This type of thermostat can be programmed at a comfortable temperature level during winter and summer.

4. Make sure there are no air leaks into or out of your home. Make sure there are no cracks around your walls and ceilings. Check and make sure all your windows and doors have no air leaks.

5. Check that your attic, exterior and basement walls have sufficient insulation levels. In order to find out the required amount of insulation level in your area, refer to your nearest department of energy office. 

How do you formulate an energy house efficiency plan? Initially, you need to make an auditing of your house to identify which areas are losing energy. The next step is to analyze whether you can fix it or you need a contractor to handle it for you. The next move is to find out how much funding you can afford to fix the areas with great energy losses. Once you identified the areas, prioritize it by arranging your list according to the degree of energy loses and importance.

If you think you do not have enough knowledge to handle the identifying of which area is losing energy, you can hire a professional contractor to do it for you.
