Hotpoint Tumble Dryers, Are They Really Any Good?

I’ve been retailing and carrying out drier repairs for over thirty years. When Creda started offering the brand new TVR2 Tumble Dryer, I told my customers to keep away from it. Many did and some didn’t.

Here are some remarks from those who didn’t.

If you’re after a low-cost clothes dryer, then a Creda TVR2 might seem to hit the spot, however unreliable unreliable certainly (sure I intended to say that twice!). Drum spiggot has broken 3 times and virtually all I could put that down to is the junk drum design and weak rear vented part of the drum. It pops in and out and if in it grabs the rear of the machine screaming the house down. A very noisy machine and you can be sure it will break once again, causing strain around the shaft which will then undoubtedly wear and break promptly. Yes you may get the various components cheap enough, however you can find a far more dependable dryer . Not advised Creda TVR2. Sorry we ever got it.

Couldn’t write my total honest feelings !!!!! I have had a door gasket on order since Feb 3rd. Currently it’s May 2nd and I am still awaitng the part. I have been given lots of different reasons as to why it isn’t in stock however not once once an apology FOR THE LONG WAIT And INCONVENINECE. Told part was defective and returned to manufacturer, then told Creda had a new supplier and part was initially being tried and improved, after that told some did arrive but were sent to people who were waiting longer than 3-4 months.

Purchased the Creda Tumble Dryer since it was cheap and simple. Fairly loud. Costly to run. Door hinge repaired under guarantee at 4 Months. Main drum belt snapped at just 10 months old fixed within guarantee.Belt broke again at about 24 months old.

Pretty good clothes dryer and as we placed it in the garage, there was no problem considering the noise. Sizeable drum. It had been suggested by local Appliance repair/salesman who has provided us with white goods for quite some time so we all trusted that it would be great, However…

The belt split in 13 months. We do not use a local handyman any longer and I wasn’t prepared to pay £100 to get Creda come and repair it so I got the belt off the internet. Complete headache trying to fit the belt back on – it’s not long enough.

Complete and utter garbage. Repairman out three times in the very first year. Incredibly noisy. Now Creda TVR2 has broken entirely at two and a half years old. Quite lightly used, so no justification. £100 call out charge so throwing it in the dump and purchasing a much better quality make. Completely fake economy buying this machine. Should not even be marketed. Only wish I’d personally read some opinions just before I spent my very hard earned cash to this bit of rubbish.

I recall my Father selling and repairing Creda Dryers over 35 years ago and in those days they were the best clothes dryer you could buy. Oh just how times have changed. The Creda firm was bought over by the Indesit/Ariston Company a few years ago and in my opinion “These people have produced absolutely nothing decent since then” Just about all of the troubles with the most recent Creda, Hotpiont, Indesit and Ariston tumble dryers in my oponion are down to serious cost cutting by the parent corporation. They eliminated the drum/ belt jockey pulley (that could have cost no more than 1% of the total construct cost) and this produced many more problems than you have read.Stay away from Hotpoint, Indesit, Creda and Ariston Dryers. Think about a Zanussi or a White Knight as an alternative if you want to avoid costly Tumble dryer repairs
