Curious Information About Solar Energy

The growing trend that includes solar energy are the renewable energy sources.  When it comes to thinking about solar energy, lots of people have boring ideas. They think that it is just voltage from sunlight taking in by panels outside one’s house.  Nothing is further from the truth. If one wishes to know more about solar energy and wants more information regarding with it, there are many intriguing facts, related fields, and interesting links and relationships about solar energy and all otherthings on this world that interacts with it.  Ready? Here they are:

  • Solar energy is really the safest form of nuclear energy that man can find in nature. The sun is in fact a giant nuclear reactor: it uses hydrogen in nuclear fusion to generate vast amounts of heat and light that then get sent down here to earth for free.
  • almost all living things here on this Earth are powered up by solar energy even before man learned to use electricity.  Microorganisms and plants used photosynthesis to convert sunlight into chemical energy in the form of carbohydrates and proteins. They use some of the energy to grow and then they are later on eaten by animals that are also eaten by other animals. Every time we eat our vegetables or our plate of fish and meat, we are in reality indirectly powered up by solar energy.
  • Some of our conventional power sources are indirect forms of solar energy.  The stored solar power that came from plants that were long dead 1000 years ago and turned to oil is the stuff that fossil fuels contained.  Hydroelectric power from flowing water is also another one. Water flows because of the interaction between the gravity of the sun and the gravity of the Earth.
  • Man’s oldest clock is actually powered by solar energy. The sundial tells time through the use of the moving shadow cast by the sun’s light on a solid, flat surface. It has been used by ancient civilizations since the time Stonehenge was built.
  • Before solar panels, man put the sun’s heat to work in various ways: turning seawater into salt, in preserving food through curing and direct drying, and in hardening clay bricks and pots before ovens were invented.
  •  The life-giving nature of the sun were realized by ancient men instinctively.   This has reach the point that the sun itself was believed as their savior.  Sun god religions can be found in every culture (ancient, tribal, and some modern faiths) on our world.
  •  Buying and maintaining the panel system for heating and electricity is the only cost you have to pay in using solar energy.  Otherwise, you get your heat and voltage for free. You can even sell any excess power from your solar panels to the electric company. This means that financial investment and gains from using solar energy is also possible and far outweighs its cost. The cost itself can be lowered by applying for a government grant.
  •  The manufacturing method applied in making the panels is the only pollution you get from using solar energy.  This is really minimal as compared to the pollution you get from fossil fuels and nuclear power.

In using solar energy, you do not need to damage natural environments or landscapes in installing your panels. All you need to do is to find a wide enough space with ample sunlight. In contrast, hydroelectric power requires huge dams on rivers and fossil fuels /uranium for nukes need to be mined first
